The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Toledo City successfully conducted the Division Training-Workshop for Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Tutors on Strengthening Reading Instruction on November 11โ17, 2025 at Mezzo Hotel, Cebu City. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of tutors from Kindergarten to Grade 10 in delivering effective reading instruction and intervention strategies.
The program gathered 1,234 ARAL tutors from both elementary and secondary public schools in the division to enhance their skills in reading instruction, evaluation, and remediation techniques, aligned with the Department of Educationโs national ARAL Program. This initiative addresses learning gaps and supports struggling readers to achieve foundational literacy skills.
Conducted in three batches, each with two-day sessions, the training featured hands-on workshops, collaborative planning, and tutorial demonstrations, equipping educators with practical tools to improve student outcomes.
Division Superintendent Dr. Joseph Irwin A. Lagura, in his message during the opening program, emphasized the importance of the training in ensuring that every learner in Toledo City receives quality instruction to address existing learning gaps.
โOur goal is to equip tutors so they can empower our students,โ he added.
SDO Toledo City reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining training, mentoring, and monitoring activities to ensure the effective implementation of the ARAL Program across the division.
